The City of Irvine City Council and the Great Park Board approved the setup and operation of the temporary Great Park amphitheater, Great Park Live.
In October, after the Five Point Amphitheatre announced its closure, the City began working to develop a plan to be able to avoid a gap in the delivery of live music in Irvine. After reviewing multiple options, the City Council authorized the establishment of a temporary live music venue that can accommodate a crowd of 5,000 at the Great Park Sports Complex.
Once established, the facility will serve as the summer home for the Pacific Symphony and will host other live entertainment acts for the summer concert seasons in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
The venue will also serve as a community hub for the Sports Complex and the surrounding
neighborhoods, with plans for a wide variety of cultural programming, entertainment, and food and beverage offerings. The venue will be a home for graduations, fundraisers, community events, and other rentals, as well as a place for neighbors to gather and visitors to get a bite to eat during sports tournaments.
PSQ Productions, LLC, will be responsible for the setup and operation of the temporary Great Park Amphitheater. The Irvine City Council also approved a contract with International Alliance for Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) for stage operations support at the venue. IATSE Local 504 has a long-standing history of working in Irvine, including at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in the 1980s and 1990s, the re-named Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in the early 2000s, and most recently, FivePoint Amphitheatre through 2023.
