How would you like to take a free personal tour of the Hilbert Museum with Mark Hilbert, the man responsible for its wonderful collection of California art? Hilbert has a personal connection to these works. He and his wife Janet have spent decades creating this one-of-a-kind collection.

On Oct. 9, a dozen Culture Club donors will be given that special honor at our inaugural Cultural Club Presents event. Afterward, you can chat with Hilbert, museum director Mary Platt and Culture OC’s senior editor and visual arts writer Richard Chang over free wine and appetizers at the nearby Streamliner Lounge in the renovated historic Sante Fe Depot.

The tour will start at 5 p.m. and last about an hour. This event is open to all new and existing Culture Club donors. See details on how to join our ticket lottery below. Maximum two people per request. Confirmations will be sent by Friday, Oct. 5. We will guarantee at least four spots for new donors, depending upon the number of responses we receive.

The museum tour is the first of a series of free special arts events hosted this season by Culture OC. Each will feature a performance or guided tour and include facetime with arts professionals and leaders in the realms of music, dance, theater and the visual arts.

Mark Hilbert and his wife Janet have devoted much of their lives to collecting California’s representational art, and their vast collection is the centerpiece of The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University. Opened in 2016 and recently expanded, it’s the only museum in the world committed to tracing the rich, iconic history of the Golden State from the late 19th century to the present through works by leading California Scene artists and Hollywood studio artists and animators. Hilbert’s vast knowledge and enthusiasm for his collection make for a memorable experience.
