WHAT's COMING?
EDITORS' PICKS
We don't have the resources to write in-depth stories about everything. Our editors want to share a few more events each week that we think you should know about. These picks are chosen by them without input from the organizations listed.
Bernal, a former Principal Dancer of the Ballet Nacional de España, presents his first evening-length program in America. His choreography blends the bravado and precision of Spanish flamenco with the aesthetic and physical demands of ballet. 7:30 p.m. November 9 at Segerstrom Hall.
Experience works by Bach, Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi as they were meant to be heard—in a church setting. For this first inaugural concert of the series, Pacific Symphony will be joined by acclaimed soprano Elissa Johnston. Assistant Conductor Jacob Sustaita leads the orchestra. Seating is general admission. 7:30 p.m. November 6.
Multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Collier, winner of two Downbeat Rising Star awards, presents his most recent work, "The Almighty," which explores the relationship between the divine and the everyday. From the intricate melodies of “Duality Suite” to the grandeur of “The Almighty,” Collier and his ensemble invite listeners on a transcendent musical journey. 8 p.m. November 9 at Soka Performing Arts Center.
