A free and powerful evening featuring live performances crafted and delivered by local veterans themselves. Through stories, monologues and creative expression, they'll explore what it means to serve, to struggle, and to heal. 7 p.m. May 27 at Chance Theatre. Free.
This exhibition by artist Kathleen Cosgrove features portraits and personal stories of 60 women over 60. Cosgrove challenges outdated views on aging and celebrates the wisdom, resilience and spirit of older generations. Through June 30 at Watermaek Laguna Niguel.
Jazz musician Thiroux is known for her bravura bass playing, assured singing and compelling compositions. Her most recent album, “Off Beat,” collected rave reviews and was awarded a “Best Album Of 2017” by Downbeat Magazine. 7:30 p.m. May 29 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center.
