EDITORS' PICKS

We don't have the resources to write in-depth stories about everything.  Our editors want to share a few more events each week that we think you should know about.  These picks are chosen by them without input from the organizations listed.

Mark Hilbert, founder of the Hilbert Museum, will describe how he built the large collection of art that his namesake museum now displays. His story will include how buying a framed painting with his wife at a flea market in Palm Springs led to one of world's largest collections of California narrative, Disney and movie art. 6 p.m. Feburary 27 at the Hilbert Museum.

America's most celebrated string quartet performs at Musco Center with a wide-ranging program: Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7, Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132, and Michelle Barzel Ross’ recently completed "Birds on the Moon." 7:30 p.m. Feburary 27.

This concert celebrates the bicentennial of Bolivia’s Independence. It's also a centennial tribute to Bolivian composer Jaime Mendoza Nava (1925-2005), whose work left an indelible mark on American film and television. 8 p.m. February 25 at Meng Concert Hall, Cal State Fullerton.
