EDITORS' PICKS

We don't have the resources to write in-depth stories about everything.  Our editors want to share a few more events each week that we think you should know about.  These picks are chosen by them without input from the organizations listed.

Pacific Symphony welcomes the Year of the Snake with a Lunar New Year concert that combines traditions from many Asian cultures with dancing, vocal and instruemtnal music. More than 200 community performers and guest artists perform with the orchestra, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair. 8 p.m. February 1 at Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Choreographer Varone has created many works for the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the Limón Company,  Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Martha Graham Dance Company. Chapman University dance students will join the company during portions of Varone's "Double Octet." 7:30 p.m. February 1 at Musco Center for the Arts.

Orange County Youth Symphony and narrator Kristi Brown Montesano will lead you through a family-friendly 45-minute interactive concert that shows how composers and authors use the same tools to capture our imagination: setting the scene and introducing characters, building excitement and creating satisfying endings. 11 a.m. February 1 at Soka Performing Arts Center.
