Spanish conductor, composer and viol player Jordi Savall has been a monumental figure in the world of early music since the beginning of his career more than five decades ago. He popularized the viol family of instruments, especially the viola da gamba. His group of exceptional musicians, each a specialist in historical instruments, give new life to centuries-old music. 7 p.m. April 16 at Samueli Theater.
