EDITORS' PICKS

We don't have the resources to write in-depth stories about everything.  Our editors want to share a few more events each week that we think you should know about.  These picks are chosen by them without input from the organizations listed.

This exhibition of more than 40 paintings spans almost a century of California history, and the works present a visual chronicle of life along California's coast, portraying lively beach scenes, bustling harbors, picturesque coastal cities and towns, and the wild, untamed beauty of the shoreline. Through August 9 at the Hilbert Museum.

This event provides free developmental, vision, dental, speech, and social-emotional screenings for children ages 0-5, along with valuable early childhood resources for families. It also promotes whole-child development and the importance of preventative care through engaging, hands-on activities and one-on-one support from expert providers. 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 5 at Pretend City. FREE.

This young violin vitruoso, who performed with the New York Philharmonic at 13, performs a recital that includes works by Bologne, Faure, Chausson and Schubert. He is joined by pianist Zhu Wang. 3 p.m. April 6 at Soka University Performing Arts Center.
